Description
Halloween Moon crabs are a terrestrial species of crab found along the costal forests in Central America. With their red-orange legs, dark blackish-purple carapace with yellow spots behind their eyes and purple-blue fading to white claws these nocturnal crabs look like they are ready to celebrate Halloween. Females are generally more muted in coloration.
These crabs are active, they will create tunnels and arrange their cage decorations to ensure they space is exactly to their likely. They will use the entire space given and require a minimum of 15 gallons.
Despite being a terrestrial crab they require access to both fresh and salt water, however are not good swimmers so bowls should be shallow.
