These pods from the Kachnar Tree (Bauhinia variegata), are a great addition to any terrarium, vivarium, or aquarium. All kinds of animals can benefit from these pods, whether they are a reptile, frog, invertebrate, or fish.
In a terrarium, Kachna Pods create visual appeal with their spiral shape. They also can provide food to isopods and springtails in a bioactive terrarium.
When used in an aquarium, these pods release tannins that are beneficial for fish and fry and have antimicrobial properties. We recommend boiling the pods before adding them to your aquarium to ensure they are waterlogged enough to sink and have begun the initial release of tannins. Cool to room temperature before adding them to your aquarium.
