These pods from the Kielmeyera tree (Kielmeyera lathrophyton) can be added to terrariums, vivariums, and aquariums. Animals from amphibians and fish to invertebrates can benefit from this addition to their enclosure.
With their interesting, leaf-like appearance, Kielmeyera Pods are perfect for creating a more diverse leaf litter. They also provide hiding spots for small animals. These pods provide food to isopods and springtails in a bioactive set-up.
In an aquarium these pods have antimicrobial properties and release tannins, benefiting fish and fry. We recommend boiling the pod for 30 minutes before adding it to your aquarium to ensure it is waterlogged enough to sink and has begun the initial release of tannins. Cool to room temperature before adding them to your aquarium.
