Description
Para Para Pods, Jacaranda copaia, are flat, broad pods. They can be used in both terrarium and aquarium setups.
Para para pods have a woody structure. They can provide hiding places to fish and shrimp, as well as food to isopods and springtails. When newly placed in an aquarium, they will float for a long time providing natural platforms in the water before they become waterlogged enough to sink. Alternatively, if you want them to sink immediately, you can boil the pods before adding them to your aquarium, ensuring they are waterlogged. Cool to room temperature before adding them to your aquarium.
In your terrarium, these pods can be used as part of a leaf litter, great for adding hides and depth, as well as diversity.
